Art 315: Ceramics II
Assignment: Mastery of Multiples
For this assignment, you must create a 3D composition that utilizes multiples. I will show you examples of several artists who have utilized working with multiples, but this assignment is open to broad interpretation.
Before you begin the assignment, I will demonstrate how to make extruder dies and use the extruder, and create plaster and bisque clay press-molds.
To create your final composition you may hand-form your objects, use the pottery wheel, create a mold(s), or utilize the extruder (or use a combination of several techniques). Before you decide which technique you will use to complete your project, you must experiment with each technique.
This assignment will be graded in 3 parts:
~1st ‘green’ review will examine your attempts using each technique: hand-forming, wheel, extruder, and mold (plaster or bisque)
~2nd ‘green’ review will discuss your composition
~3rd review will be on the final completed project

These pieces were Alexandra’s multiples, fired to cone 6 in oxidation (electric kiln)
