SU Fall 2017 Ceramics I
Mold Making
At the beginning of the semester, students learn how to make clay molds of various textures and surfaces. Although plaster mold-making is usually not covered in Ceramics I, this student spent a great deal of time carving this tile design, and it presented an opportunity for a plaster mold-making demonstration. After she made a mold of this tile, she went on to make molds of several tarot card tile designs that she had created.
These tiles are approx. 5” square, fired to cone 6 in oxidation (electric kiln).
