Super-secret treasure keeper assignment
Super-secret treasure keeper assignment
2017

Super-secret-treasure-keeper assignment: project must have a secret compartment and/or consider the interior of the form as extensively as the exterior. Students are required to start with an initial design (which can change as their idea develops), and are also encouraged to work on a somewhat larger scale. This assignment is primarily a slab building assignment, but students can also utilize other building techniques. Students are also encouraged to design and utilize a pattern prior to construction.

This piece was Raku fired (a low-fire process inspired by a Japanese firing technique; the piece is taken out of the kiln at about 1800 degrees F and placed in a reduction chamber, which creates the unique surface effects). This piece can be disassembled and arranged into different forms.
